Senior Developer-symfony

A leading publishing house is looking for a strong Senior Developer to join the Digital Development team.

Working in Central London the successful candidate will work on some of the UK’s largest Fashion websites. They will have extremely good technical knowledge of PHP and MySQL as well as a solid grounding in frontend development. They will have strong knowledge of PHP MVC frameworks with Symfony experience being an advantage although other frameworks such as Zend, CakePHP or Code Igniter would be acceptable. Experience of Agile development methodologies is very desirable.

Required Experience
• Track record of developing high volume, high performance web applications.
• Strong delivery focus and passion for quality and innovation.
• Positive attitude and focus on working as part of a team.
• Experience of subversion (SVN) or other similar version control systems.
• A strong understanding of web security and performance issues.
• Experience of writing unit tests and use of continuous integration environments.
• Experience of frontend development technologies with a solid understanding of modern web standards, progressive enhancement and accessibility.
• Experience of training/mentoring other developers in areas of expertise and a willingness to champion the use of best practices.
• Understanding of design patterns and how to apply these.

Desirable Experience
• Experience in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
• Commercial experience using symfony in a high traffic environment.
• Development experience using Drupal.
• Working in a fast paced digital media environment.
